The Candle That Started It All- Witchie Wick's Christmas Embers
Witchie Wicks
Witchie Wicks was my first and launched an obsession and I knew that (insert Joe Exotic gif here) “I will never financially recover from this”. I was innocently attending a female maker mart to support my insanely creative friend and artist Amy Wike, when I sniffed Christmas Embers and went full Lizard Brain and just bought it. I am always looking for more witchy aesthetic products and I was very jealous that the owner, Lauren Witchie, has that incredible surname. After I burned through Christmas Embers, I felt dramatic and messaged Lauren from Witchie Wicks asking for more. I basically will buy the Witchie Wicks holiday collection every year until the day I die, which considering all the horcruxes I have made, is never.
Witchie Wicks is local to me, being made in the NoMA area of DC, by Lauren Witchie. The candles themselves are 100% pure US-grown soy. The soybeans are grown on small farms, and any that are not needed for the wax extraction process is repurposed for animal feed. I love that the brand is sustainable and considering the candles are packaged in completely recyclable packaging, On a personal note, one of my candles broke in transit to me and I was devastated; I reached out to Lauren via email and she sent me a replacement candle the next day!
Aesthetic
Witchie Wicks candles come in recyclable glass jars- brown glass is used for the holiday collection. I love seeing the candlelight flicker through the brown glass, it makes me feel like I’m on a whaling boat, writing to my sweetheart and singing a sea shanty. If you live in the DC area, you can bring your empties to Witchie Wicks to get refilled.
Christmas Embers
Collection: Limited Edition- Seasonal
Wax: Soy and Coconut
Throw: Strong
Christmas Embers is the candle that started my obsession. It has the perfect mix of fireplace logs mixed with mint that captures the spirit of the holidays for me. Lighting this candle, releases a strong wintry smell and transports me to the year 1526 where I am riding a sweet palfrey through the forest, just anticipating getting into the warmth of my lovely castle great hall where I know a Wassail Cup will be awaiting me. I have purchased this candle thrice now, since to me it personifies the marriage of a seasonal mint and yule log.
