Scent Notes: Notes of sweet citrus with herbal touches of lemon thyme and ginger. Topped with white and green tea leaves
There’s a scene in the movie Amadeus, where Salieri sight-reads one of Mozart’s Adagios and he describes how out of a seemingly simple combination of notes, Mozart create a heart achingly beautiful composition:
“The beginning simple, almost comic….and then suddenly, high above it, a single note, hanging there unwavering, until a clarinet took it over and sweetened it into a phrase of such delight!”
I honestly felt that way when I first lit my Tea and Herb candle. I had it next to my desk while I worked away and paid little attention when suddenly my nose was greeted by a gentle scent of citrus. This note gently crescendoed into a bright, sweet duet between lemon and ginger that couldn’t help but bring a smile to my resting demon face. You may recall in my review of the Ginger Tea candle, that I compared the zesty ginger notes to a bright beam of sunshine at the zenith of the day, making you want to be productive and go outside for a hike.
If that’s the case, then it’s cousin scent, Tea and Herb, would be like a waking up to the glowing morning sun in a Medetarranian climate, knowing you’re about to have coffee and pastries on a balcony overlooking the sea and then wander around a historic town looking for more food (I MISS TRAVELING CAN YOU TELL).
Tea and Herb’s zesty scent notes are slightly more muted than Ginger Tea, which makes it a great candle to burn by day and at night, since I think it has both uplifting and unwinding qualities. The tea base along with the earthy thyme, round the citrus and ginger out, grounding them into a subtler overall scent. The throw comes and goes in waves, like the single note from Mozart’s Adagio, and it’s always such a nice surprise for my nostrils when it comes back. Another hit from the folks at Queer Candle Co! At this point, I want to challenge them to find me a scent I don’t like (no don’t do that please).
